Lester F. Bauman, 93, of Rockford, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in P.A. Peterson Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. He was born January 27, 1915 in Gridley, Illinois. The son of Emil and Alma (Bauman) Finck. He was raised by his grandparents, Eilert and Matie (Lutchen) Bauman. He was married to Abbie A. (Peters) Bond in Flanigan, Ill. on November 22, 1958. He was employed as a Heating and Refrigeration serviceman for 26 years at Sun-Ray and 12 years at Miller Engineering until he retired in 1980. A veteran of WWII serving the U.S. Air Force in the Eurpoean Theatre. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; member and past-president of Refrigeration and Engineering Society – Rockford; Member of Rockford Plumbers and Pipefitters local #23; member of American Legion Boone Post #77 and John Hugo Kaiser Belvidere post #1461 V.F.W. Lester is survived by four step-sons, James Bond; John Bond and Gene Bond; Dennis (Kathleen) Johnson; three sisters, Lorraine Hartman-Clark; Donna Price and Ramona (Gerald) Schuler; 14 step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; his wife and a three sisters, Evelyn Finck; Tena Clark; and Dorothy Gray.
