Leonard Sullivan, 85, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, died
peacefully April 9, 2019 in Rockford, Illinois. He was born on June 20, 1933 in
Chicago, Illinois to Thomas and Margaret (Maloney) Sullivan. Leonard married
his sweetheart, Karen Ruback on September 28, 1963 in Oak Park, Illinois. He
worked the Department of Public Works in Burbank, Illinois working in the
trucking industry. Leonard served in the
Army from 1953 -1955 and was in the Korean War. He loved many sports including
the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, Bowling, Boxing and Wrestling. He loved
learning about a history, preferably presidential history.
Leonard is dearly loved and missed by his wife, Karen; children, Daniel Buckley (1st wife, Karen Kunas and 2nd wife, Taylor Thompson), Timothy Sullivan and Carrie Sullivan- OConnor (Daniel); sisters, Margaret Baker, Joan Jones; brothers, Thomas Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan, James Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan and William Sullivan; and grandchildren, Leslie Hofer, Michelle Albanese, Kelly Buckley, Robert Buckley, Jayden Buckley, Arizona, Daniel OConnor, Erin OConnor, Ashley Hofer, Zachary Hofer, Megan Hofer, and Gianna Hofer.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Ann
Sullivan; parents; grandparents; Patrick Sullivan and Ellen Jones; William
Maloney and Elizabeth Fleming; sister, Margaret and daughter- in-law, Karen
Buckley.
Lenny's Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 27,
2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at his home, 125 Heathcliff Dr. S.E., Poplar
Grove, IL, 61065.
