Leonard R. Harris, 91, of Poplar Grove died Tuesday morning August 8, 2006 in Rosewood Care Center after a lingering illness. Leonard was born June 19, 1915 in Boone County, Illinois the son of Eli E. and Lucinda (Isabell) Harris. He married Elizabeth Annabelle Streit on December 24, 1938 in First United Methodist Church in Harvard, Illinois. Leonard worked 40 years for Christian-Smith Construction and 15 years for Boone County Highway Department. In his spare time, Leonard enjoyed tinkering with engines and mowers and such.Survivors include his children, Leonard, Jr. of Poplar Grove, Betty (Glenn) Borgo of Manhattan, IL, Joe (Diane) Harris of Belvidere, Steve (LuAnn) Harris of Belvidere; former daughter in-law, Joy Harris of Poplar Grove; eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.Leonard is predeceased by his parents, wife, Elizabeth.
