It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Leonard E. Harris, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and devoted lifelong farmer, who passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 86.

Born on October 25, 1938, to Leonard R. Harris and Elizabeth Annabelle (Streit) Harris, Leonard was raised in Capron, where he received his education and began laying the foundation for a life dedicated to hard work and community service.

Leonard's passion for farming began early, and he devoted 65 years to the land. As a hardworking and caring farmer, he not only cultivated the earth but also the relationships that helped grow and strengthen his community. He expanded his farm over the years and played an integral role in local businesses, always striving to support and uplift those around him. Leonard was not only a provider for his family but a caregiver to all who needed him. His strength, dedication, and unyielding work ethic will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Leonard was a proud father, a cherished grandfather, and a loving great-grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and community spirit that will live on through his family and friends.

Leonard is survived by his children; Dann (Dianna) Harris, ; Richard (Annette) Harris; the mother of his children, Joy Elaine Harris Roeger; his grandchildren, DJ (Sarah) Harris, Amanda (Matt) Schwab, Skylar (Courtney) Harris; his great grandchildren, Matthew, Lilly, Mackenzie, Autumn, Savanna, Cooper; his siblings, Betty (Glenn) Borgo, and Steve (Luann) Harris. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Elizabeth Harris, as well as his brother Joseph Harris, and great grandchild Tucker.

Though he is no longer with us, Leonard's impact on his community, family, and the land he tended will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Leonard's memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Located at 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008. Visitation from 9am until time of service.
