Leo Theodore Turek, 95, of Poplar Grove, formerly of Belvidere, passed away, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in his home. He was born April 11,1921 in Gilman WI, son of Joseph and Mary (Strzok) Turek. Leo went on to marry the love of his life Betty Kunde on May 2, 1943 in Belvidere, IL. Leo would retire from Barber-Coleman after many years of employment.  He Served our country with the United States Army as a Corpsman in England and Medic in the Army hospital during WWII. Leo was a former member of the VFW and enjoyed puzzles, fishing, reading and traveling in his RV with Betty. Leo made his spiritual home at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere.

He is loved and will be missed by his daughter, Mary Ann (Dale) Jones; sister, Stella Meyers; grandchildren, Sandie (Corwin) Rayphole, Michael Glee; great-grandchildren, Brandan and Colton, Fredrick, Dakota, and Haley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, son, Larry Turek; brothers, Clarence, Eddie, Ted and Louis; and sister, Emily.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Allan Buss officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere.
