Lee Owen Carlson, 77, of Belvidere IL, went home to be with the Lord, on September 29, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 25, 1941 in Fort Madison, IA, the son of Einar and Marguerite (Becker) Carlson. Lee married the love of his life Candace (Candy) R. Cottrell on July 20, 1968. Lee and Candy celebrated their 50th anniversary this past July in Branson, MO with their family.

Lee was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ and was a wonderful, loving and devoted husband, dad, papa, father-in-law, son, brother and brother-in-law. He was a member of Heartland Community Church in Rockford, IL. Lee worked in construction with his dad until starting at Chrysler in 1965. He retired on July 31, 2001 after 36 years of service. Lee Enjoyed spending time with family, woodworking, painting, garage sales and going out to eat or getting coffee with friends at McDonalds.

He is loved and missed by his wife Candy; son, Erik Lee Carlson of Belvidere; daughter, Dayna (Jeff) Rebelak of Westmoreland, TN; grandson, Joshua Burgus of Westmore, TN; numerous sister-in-law's, brother-in-law's and nieces and nephews.

Lee's family wants to thank their extended family, friends and doctors and nurses at UW, OSF and Northern IL Hospice for all of their love and support.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. till 12:45 p.m. prior to service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
