LaVerne B. Saynor, 84, of Belvidere, died Saturday, June 13, 2009 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a long illness. She was born January 17, 1925 in Bellwood, Illinois, the daughter of Otto Fredrick and Clarabell (Duchien) Rick. LaVerne has lived in Belvidere since 1985 coming here from Phillips, Wisconsin. She married Hugh John Saynor, Sr. in Georgia on April 26, 1943. She worked in the Mars Candy Factory during WWII. She was employed as a Cook for Highland Hospital and later as a Food Service Supervisor for Northwoods Nursing Home before retiring. Member of St. John United Church of Christ, 40 & 8 LaFemme's and American Legion Auxillary Post 491, McHenry, Illinois. She attended Proviso East High School, Maywood, Illinois. LaVerne is survived by four children, Hugh J. (Judy) Saynor, Jr., Delavan, WI; Lynn E. (Philip) Gentile, McCullom Lake, IL; Beth A. Quitno, Belvidere; Joel K. Saynor, Belvidere; son-in-law, Dale Christensen, Caledonia; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; a brother, Norman Rick, Sr. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; a daughter, Aimee Christensen; three sisters, Clarabelle Ward, Myrtle Adduci, and Barbara Kuchera; and sister-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Rick.
