Laverne C. Erickson was born January 11, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. He attended North Park Junior College and graduated from North Park Theological Seminary and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. He married Bernice Peterson Erickson on June 10, 1936. She preceded him in death. Erickson served as pastor of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Donaldson, Indiana; Evangelical Mission Covenant Church in Sloan, Iowa; Swedish Congregational Church in Milford, Massachusetts; Emanuel Covenant Church in Rochester, New York; Berkeley Covenant Church in Berkeley, California; Bethel Covenant Church in Topeka, Kansas; Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora, Nebraska; Evangelical Covenant Church in Northlake, Illinois, and Lund Covenant Church in Lund, Wisconsin. He and his dear wife retired and resided in Belvidere, Il from 1973-1992. They were very active in the Belvidere Covenant Church where he sang in the choir and served as visitation pastor. He and his wife organized and coordinated the activities of the senior citizens group. He served as an interim pastor for many Covenant churches in Illinois, Upper Michigan and Indiana. He also served as Visitation Pastor of Bethesda Covenant Church in Rockford, IL. Survivors include three daughters: Corene (Rodney) Johnson, Vernice Peterson, and Judy (Tom) Anderson plus 16 grandchildren and 21 great-granddhildren, all of whom he dearly loved.
