LaVern "Ole" Peterson, 83, died peaceably at home with his family by his side. He was born in Sparta, WI on March 23, 1931. Married Connie Miller on June 19, 1954 in St. Charles, IL. Came to Illinois in 1949 to work on a farm. He served in the Korean War in the 7th Calvary Regiment from 1952 to 1954. Retired from Ingersoll Milling in 1998 and later from the North Boone School District 200 in 2006. He was a member of the American Legion Post 77. Ole loved classic country music; going to county fairs; flower and vegetable gardening; southern gospel music; and spending time with and teasing his grandchildren. He had a fantastic personality and was loved by everyone. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Connie; 2 sons, Darrin (Michele D.) Davis, of Belvidere; Mark (Michelle R.) Davis, of Genoa, IL; 8 grandchildren, Kyle, Jenifer, Michael, Elizabeth, Erin, Carl, Michelle and Stephanie; sister, Pearl (Bruce) Bauman; 2 brothers, Pete (Esther) Peterson and Gene (Linda) Peterson, all of Ontario, WI; sisters-in law, Donna (Jim) Nichols, Ethan, SD; Barb (Jim) Vargovich, Sycamore, IL; Brothers-in-law, Daryl D. Miller, DeKalb, IL; Daryl G. (Cheryl) Miller, Williams, MN; Jon Davis, Leaf River, IL; a close nephew, Larry (Debbie) Davis, Rochelle, IL; several nieces and nephews, and close friends, Dave Harbolt; Jill Grove and Robert Olson. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Arnold Peterson; sister-in-law, Sandra Davis and brother-in-law, George Miller.
