IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Edward
Peters
December 29, 1955 – June 24, 2024
Larry Edward Peters was born on December 29, 1955, to Jerry Lawrence and Maryan Barbara (Bachmann) Peters in Evanston, IL and passed away surrounded by family on June 24, 2024 in Rockford, IL. Larry graduated from North Boone High School in 1974 and went on to study to be a mechanic for heavy duty equipment at Lincoln Technical Institute. After which, he served in the United States Marine Corp from 1976 until he was honorably discharged in 1980. After leaving the Marine Corp, Larry worked as a heavy-duty mechanic for Harvard Ready Mix, Atlas Ready Mix and Wagner Excavating before ultimately leaving the workforce due to health concerns. Larry enjoyed fishing, tinkering on cars and spending time with his family and friends, especially his daughter Brittney, who was the light of his life. He was also a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs and watched every game he could. He is survived by his loving daughter Brittney Peters, siblings, Teresa (Scott) Higgins, Denise Gipe, Angela (John) Wanfalt, Martin Peters and Lisa (Steven) Mortensen, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also held a special place in his heart for Teresa and John Stumpf, Shirley Peters, and his furry friends Addie, Poppy, Maizy and Wrigley. He was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas Edward Peters, his parents Jerry and Maryan, and niece Mackenzie Mortensen. We would like to thank the Belvidere Fire, EMS and Police Departments for their care and support. As well as the staff at UW Health Belvidere and Rockford, especially the staff in the Critical Care Unit.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 30th from 2 – 5pm with Memorial Service at 2:30pm at American Legion, 900 West Chrysler Drive, Belvidere, IL 61008. Burial will be private at a later date.
