Larry R. Hughes, 77 of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 8, 2014 in his home after a sudden illness.  Larry was born July 27, 1937 in Toledo, OH the son of Ray G. and Helen (Linger) Hughes.  He married Ellen "Darlene" Smith on July 21, 1967 in Las Vegas, NV; she preceded him in death in 2006.  Larry was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a paratrooper in peacetime service.  He retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service and was an avid Belvidere High School football fan and a member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge.  Larry also enjoyed Deer hunting, Golf, Bowling, Fishing and visiting the gambling boat.

Larry is loved and will be missed by his children, Tina Lewis of Belvidere and Kevin Hughes of Belvidere; daughter in-law, Penny Lewis of Belvidere; grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Larry is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Darlene; daughter, Debbie and son, Rick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 13 , 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Dan Schenck officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery.  A memorial fund will be established and can be given in care of the family.  To light a candle or to share a memory, please visit www.AndersonFCS.com
