Obituary

Larry D. Cadie, 59, of Belvidere, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 in his home following a short illness. He was born April 4, 1949 in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Harold G. and Helen (Jacobus) Cadie. Larry has lived most of his life in Boone County. He built and owned Cadie Car Hauling. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam Era serving in the Army with a tour in Germany. He was raised in the Methodist Faith. He was a member of NRHA (National Hot Rod Association) and Flora Grange. Larry enjoyed collecting toy model cars, trains and trucks, and '55 Chevrolets. He was also a Harley Davidson enthusiast and a drag racer at the Byron Dragway. He loved attending Bike Week in Daytona, Florida and also vacationing in Florida. He is survived by his fiancé, Dawn Thompson, Belvidere; his mother, Helen Cadie, Belvidere; seven children, Larry, Laurie, Jodi, Jennifer, Jason, Paul and Anastashia; many grandchildren; three sisters, Debra (Dale) Dickison, Plymouth, Indiana, Kathy (Mel) Stewart and Janis (James) Bakke, both of Belvidere; three brothers, Richard (Julie) Cadie, DeBary, Florida, Roger (Susan) Cadie and Steven (Cathy) Cadie both of Belvidere. Many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Lynn.
