Larry J. Bird, 81, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, in Belvidere, Illinois, after a brief illness. Born on September 5, 1943, Larry dedicated over 40 years of his life to his career to Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, where he was respected and well- loved by his colleagues.
In addition to spending time with family, Larry loved to travel and was a passionate car enthusiast, a hobby that brought him great joy and fulfillment throughout his life. He was a former President of the Rock Valley Chapter of the Chicagoland Mopar Connection car club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Paula Bird; his sister, Lori Lucky; his son, Jeffrey (Tina) Bird; his daughter, Sheri (David) Mace; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Allison, Alyssa, Emma, and Megan.
Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Bird; his parents, John and Ruth Bird; as well as is brother, Lance Bird.
Larry will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his passion for automobiles, and his enduring kindness and integrity.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends, honoring Larry's memory and legacy on Saturday, October 26th from 2-4pm at the Hoffman House in Rockford, Illinois.
