Kristine (Kris) Kay (Johnson) Thornton, 70, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Belvidere. She was born on March 23, 1955, in Rockford, IL, daughter to Stewart and Pat (Lynn) Johnson. She graduated high school and became a lifelong bookkeeper. She married Roger Thornton, October 3, 1992, in Rockford, IL, at Second Congregational UCC/First Presbyterian Church. Interests include boating, camping and pets, especially her cat, Oreo. She is loved and will be missed.
Kristine is missed by her mother, Patricia L. Johnson; stepson, Kyle and stepdaughter, Rachel; siblings, Lynn (Judy) S. Johnson, Mark (Kris Whitman) E. Johnson, and Janet (Ray) Smith; multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews; and cousins, Michael (Dianne) Campbell and Robin (Alan) Lounsbury.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roger, and her father.
Kristine's visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2024, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008.
