Kevin James Hayes, 55, of Belvidere, IL. , died peacefully on June 6, 2017 in Rockford, IL.  Born November 28, 1961, in Belvidere, son of James "Buck" and Carol (Butram) Hayes. Kevin married his sweetheart, Rogena Hooper, on March 31, 1989 in Belvidere. He attended Belvidere High School and graduated from North Boone High School, class of 1980.

Kevin was employed at his family's business,Hayes Carpentry and Repair for many years and went on to be a journeyman carpenter with Carpenters Local 792. He was also a service technician  for CSC Service Works. His interests included motorcycles, carpentry and was an all- around handy man who could fix many things.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Rogena; parents, James and Carol; step daughter, Amanda (Wil Kladek) Hooper; daughter, Cassandra Hayes; son, Marcus Hayes; sister, Anita Hayes, brother, Brad (Jill) Hayes; brother in-law, Michael Draheim; grandchildren, Quinn Hayes and Hunter Smith; and daughter in-law, Kyle Smith; and many nieces and a nephew.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Earl and Thelma Butram; paternal grandmother, Faye Holstine; and sister, Sandra Draheim.

A Time of Sharing will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. in Belvidere. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., until the Time of Sharing. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
