Kenneth H. Michel, 79, of Britt, Iowa formerly of Belvidere, died January 12, 2006 in Westview Care Center following a seven year illness. Ken was born December 8, 1926. He grew up in Waterloo, Wisconsin and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1944. After High School, he joined the Navy. Upon returning from the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Trotts in 1947. They moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. In 1950, after graduating form MSOE, they made their home in Rockford, Illinois. Ken was employed by Sundstrand Corporation and was transferred to Belvidere in 1958. He worked at Sundstrand for over 33 years and retired on February 1, 1989. In 2002, he moved to Britt to be closer to his daughters.In addition to work, Ken was involved in many church and school activities. His faith and church work remained a significant part of his life. He served on the PTA, endowment board, as Treasurer. He was also active in many other activities and committees. Ken was also interested in genealogy, and was a member of the Winnebago/Boone County Genealogical Society. He investigated his family history and traveled to libraries throughout the United States. He is survived by two daughters, Chris (Larry) Wood, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; Cindy (Brian) Dallman, Britt, Iowa; three grandchildren, Carli (Bruce) Forbes; Matthew Dallman and Anna Dallman; a great-granddaughter, Madalyn Christine Forbes; a sister, Ruth Gourlie, Jefferson, Wisconsin and a brother, Charles (Harriet) Michel, Venice, Florida.He was preceded in death by, his parents, his wife, Lorraine, and granddaughter, Rachel Michel Dallman.
