Kenneth LeRoy Kays, 68, of Belvidere, died on Monday, December 27, 2010 in Swedish American Hospital, Belvidere. Born November 27, 1942 in Dekalb, IL, son of Hubert B. and Berneitta (Blachford) Kays, Sr. Married Sandra Engelsen on October 31, 1964 in Herbert, IL. Ken worked as a farmer for most of his life. Was involved in 4-H and Big Brother for years. Member of Coon Creek Casters, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, Farm Bureau, Royal Order of the Moose, Belvidere Lodge 295, Snowmobile and Horse Clubs, but most importantly he was the founder of the Belvidere Bandits Youth Wrestling Club where he coached for several years. He was always involved in his grandchildren's activities. His love of nature extended to hunting and fishing. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.Survivors include his loving wife Sandra, mother Berneitta Kays, sons Dennis (Debbie) Kays and Richard (Leah) Kays both of Belvidere, grandchildren David, Stephanie, Nathan and Wade, brother Hubert B. (Alice) Kays, Jr. of Belvidere and sister Donnita (Charles) Faidley of PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father.
