Poplar Grove, ILKathy L. Fowler, 63, of Poplar Grove, IL passed away peacefully, early Thursday morning, November 22, 2012 at the emergency room of Swedish American Hospital, Belvidere, IL after a short illness. Kathy was born October 10, 1949 in Belvidere, the daughter of George and Marilyn (Griswold) Barton. She married George F. Fowler on December 1, 1973 in the chapel of First Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL. Kathy dedicated 15 year of her life caring for the communities where she lived as a nurse. She then worked 18 years as a staffing coordinator at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, retiring a year ago. Kathy enjoyed traveling. She visited her husband in England when he was on assignment; and she and George celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a two-week trip to Munich, Paris, Salzburg and Vienna. She and George also vacationed across America and Canada; just recently traveling to Arizona and the Grand Canyon. Kathy was the family genealogist. She loved her four grandchildren dearly. Her family and its history were extremely important to Kathy. She was very detailed in her research and became very excited when finding a family member from long ago.She is loved and will be missed by her husband, George of Poplar Grove; sons Michael (Paula) of Terre Haute, IN and Eric (Becky) of Waterford, WI; grandchildren Heaven, Alisha, Nick, Jon; brother William (Bev) Barton of Belvidere as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Kathy is predeceased by her parents and sister Diana Long.
