Kathleen Flanagan Gray, 85, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in her home. Kathy was born September 4, 1927 in Houghton, Michigan, to William Watkins and Rosell (Frazier) Flanagan. She was married to Jerry Cornelius Gray on February 26, 1948, in Hanover, Indiana. Survivors include four children, Jerry F. (Cynthia) Gray, Mansfield, Texas; Deborah S. (Robert) Sander, Palatine, Illinois; Daniel L. (Vesta) Gray, Charlotte, North Carolina; and David R. (Kimberly) Gray, East Peoria, Illinois; twelve grandchildren, Mindy, Andy, Billy, and Katey Gray; Amy (Chris) Gatwood, Megan (Brian) Daley; Whitney and Haley Gray; Mitchell, Ethan, Matthew and Suzanne Gray; two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Ava; brother, William Watkins Flanagan, II, Dover Delaware, and two nephews. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and husband on September 21, 1996. A resident of Belvidere since 1976, Kathy was formerly a substitute teacher and was a member of the Retired Teachers Organization, Belvidere Woman's Club, Alpha Delta Pi, Panhellenic Society, and was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere and it's Naomi Circle. She was a graduate of Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. Kathy's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She delighted in knowing she had raised her children well and was most proud of them. Her warm, fun-loving personality and positive attitude about life was an inspiration to all who knew her.
