Rockford, ILKatherine Ann Andersen, MD, 48, of Rockford, IL died peacefully, Saturday evening, November 26, 2011 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a year and a half battle with cancer. Kathy was born April 27, 1963 in Park Ridge, IL the daughter of Dr. Milton G. and Judith C. (Hansen) Schmitt, Jr. She married William F. Andersen, Jr. on August 6, 1988 in Rockford, IL. Kathy was a physician for Rockford Health Systems and a member of Christ United Methodist Church.Katherine is loved and will be missed by her husband, Bill; children Eric and Wills; parents Dr. Milton and Judith Schmitt; brothers David (Kim) Schmitt, John (Tammy) Schmitt; nieces and nephews Michael, Hannah, Gabby, Alex, Ryan Schmitt, Jeffrey (Sarah), Colin, Austin Fritsch, Jenna, Matthew, Ethan Schilling; mother and father in-law Bill and Diane Andersen; sisters in-law, Joan (Jeff) Fritsch, Amy (Kevin) Schilling.Katherine is preceded in death by her children Katie and John; and her grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, Kathy preferred that memorials be given in care of Christ United Methodist Church Youth Ministries and Work Camp, in her memory.
