Joy Elaine Harris Roeger, 87, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2026.
Born on October 11, 1938, in Belvidere, Illinois, Joy was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Rhode) Menge. She grew up in Boone County, where she developed the strong work ethic, faith, and commitment to family and community that would define her life.
Joy graduated from North Boone High School and spent her life serving others through both her work and her involvement in the community. A dedicated and hardworking farmer for many years, she took great pride in the agricultural heritage of her family and the rural lifestyle she cherished. In addition to farming, she worked at Boone State Bank, where she was known for her reliability and friendly nature. An entrepreneur at heart, Joy also established and managed Oak Lawn mobile home park and Countryside Mall for many years.
Throughout her life, Joy believed in the importance of community and fellowship. She was a longtime member of the Merry Milkmaids, enjoying the friendships and connections she made. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her faith guided her daily life and was reflected in the kindness, generosity, and compassion she extended to others Her legacy of faith, perseverance, and care for others will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family; sons, Dann (Dianna) Harris, ; Richard (Annette) Harris, grandchildren, DJ (Sarah) Harris, Amanda (Matt) Schwab, Skylar (Courtney) Harris, Tiffany (Jeremy) Wargo, and Veronica Lawson; great grandchildren, Matthew, Lilly, Mackenzie, Autumn, Savanna, Cooper; her sister, Sandra Russell, as well nieces, nephews and a host of friends, church family, and all whose lives were blessed by knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marjorie Menge, late husband, Jack Roeger, and the father of her children, Leonard Harris, as well as great grandson, Tucker.
Her visitation will be Thursday, June 11 between 9:30-11am at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Located at 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral to follow at 11am. Burial will be at Belvidere Cemetery.
