Joseph Charles Poulter, age 81, a fifty-two year resident of Belvidere died Sunday, September 11, 2005. Joe was born January 15, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa the son of Dr. R.W. and Effie Mae (Ganoe) Poulter. He married Martha E. Cook and following her death in 1990, he married Mary Weber. Joe was a John Deer Dealer owning Poulter Implement for 43 years. During World War II he served in the US Army in the Signal Corp in the European Theater. As a long time John Deere dealer, Joe was an avid supporter of Boone County agriculture, 4H and FFA. He served the community as a member of the Belvidere CUSD 100 school board, was a member of the Belvidere Rotary Club and a supporter of the YMCA. Joe received the Doctor of Civic Betterment Award in 1972. He was a member of Belvidere United Methodist Church Choir for 40 years and was a faithful Belvidere Buc and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Joe was a enthusiastic exerciser. For years he was a familiar sight riding his bicycle all over town and exercising at the Y. His children will always remember that he supported them in all their endeavors.Survivors include his wife, Mary Weber Poulter; children Debra Poulter, Bruce Poulter, Jeff (Julie) Poulter, Kristi (Randy) Weber McCaskill, Cynthia Weber Poulter; sister Mary Foust; six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.Joe is predeceased by his parents and sister, Versa Inglis.
Memorials can be given in care of First United Methodist Church in Joe's memory.
