Josefina M. Licon, 77, of Rockford, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born March 14, 1932 in San Benito, Texas, the daughter of Simon and Elvira (Gonzales) Guajardo. She has been a Rockford resident since 1972, coming here from California. She was employed as a Presser for several Rockford area Dry Cleaning Stores. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. She enjoyed playing guitar and loved her two Chihuahuas, Valentina and Chiquita. She is survived by Beloved friend, Dave Burford; four children, Rosa (John) Birnbaum; Juan (Jody) Licon; Simon (Jenifer) Licon and David (Katie) Licon all of Rockford; eleven grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Megan, Juan "Sonny", Austin, Taylor, Joseph, Emily, Hannah, Noah and Emah; a great-grandchild, Kahlee; five sisters, Anastasia, Enedelia, Ofelia, Juanita and Ninfa; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and sister Guadalupe.
