Johnathon Charles Leopold, 17, of Belvidere, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 in his home following a sudden unexpected illness. He was born March 26, 1994 in McHenry, Illinois; the son of Joseph J. Leopold and Katherine L. (Bishop) Kugler. John has lived in Belvidere for the last 7 and ½ years, moving here from Marengo, Illinois. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith. At the time of his death, he was a student at Belvidere High School. John was a member of the Junior Explorers through the Belvidere Police Department. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and video gaming. He was interested in joining the Army. John is survived by his parents, Katherine L. (Daniel J.) Kugler, Belvidere; Joseph J. (Susanne M.) Leopold, Crystal Lake, Illinois; his siblings, Ashley Lynn Leopold, Joseph J. Leopold, Jr. and Joshua Franklin Kugler; one step-brother, Zachary Lindskoog, two step-sisters, Taylor Lindskoog and Gianna Lindskoog; Maternal grandparents, Janet and Richard Bishop; Paternal grandparents, Joyce and Wayne Christian; two great-grandmothers, Laura Ramsey and Genevieve Edwards, many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Leopold.
