John L. Wirth, Jr., 70, of Belvidere, Illinois died early Thursday morning, October 23, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving family. John was born May 9, 1938 in Belvidere, IL the son of John L and Florence (Dittbenner) Wirth, Sr. He married Dorothy Alsup on May 25, 1957 in Belvidere. John worked 28 years for the Parson Casket Hardware Company and then another 17 years for the Illinois Tollway Authority before he retired. He coached for the Belvidere Youth Baseball program, did carpentry work and was an avid fisherman. He belonged to the Coon Creek Casters and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Belvidere Lodge #295.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; children, Nancy (Alan) Fischer, John "Bud" Wirth III, Dennis (Sherri) Wirth all of Belvidere; grandchildren, Tonya (Eric) Aarli, Jeremy (Kori) Boleyn, Nicholas Wirth, Jordan Wirth, Great Grandchildren, Ashley, Timothy, Byron, Emma, Makayla, Aidan; brothers and sisters, Darlene (Tom) Stewart, Duane (Dianne) Wirth, Larry (Peggy) Wirth, Linda (Jerry Huff) Ward, Gary (Pat) Wirth, Jimmy Wirth, Debbie Langan; brother in-law, Russ Hanson, Sr.; best friend, Ted Sherman. Predeceased by his parents, sister Audrey Hanson, and brother Ronald Wirth.

A memorial will be established in care of John's family.
