Obituary

John Henry Walter, 71, of Belvidere died Tuesday April 18, 2006 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born December 9, 1934 in Potosi, WI. to Henry J. and Carrie E. (Nickel) Walter. He graduated from Potosi High School class of 1952. He relocated to Belvidere from Dubuque in 1968. He married Lanette Swanson on February 13, 1993 in Immanuel Lutheran Church. John worked as an assembler for Chrysler Corp. from 1968 until his retirement and more recently worked for Wal-mart.He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was an Elder and was involved in the Stephan Ministry, a member of the Belvidere Union Local #1268 U.A.W., a former member of the Elks, former volunteer fire and rescue member in Potosi, and a former deputy sheriff of Grant Co., Wi. John enjoyed the Monday Morning Bible class at church, was involved in the Northcentral Maltese Rescue, and was a devoted caretaker of his mother-in-law who passed away in November of 2004.He is survived by his wife Lani, of Belvidere, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bob and Maribeth, Allen and RaeAnn, nieces and nephew, great-nephews, god-son Branden, and his faithful Maltese Romeo. He is predeceased by his parents, infant sister, mother-in-law Marjorie Swanson, and father-in-law George Swanson.
