John C. Thomas, 72, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, June 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born September 25, 1944 in Chicago, IL, son of Charles and Grace (Forncrook) Thomas. John married Eva Hladeck on April 23, 1977 in Chicago. He was an entrepreneur, and owned many small business over the years. Most recently, he worked as a courier for Behr Steel and Iron in Rockford. John loved coin collecting, and finding items with his metal detector. He also liked fishing, and jigsaw puzzles, and gambling.

John is loved and missed by his wife, Eva; son, James (Lori) McGuire; grandchildren, Krystal (Preston Calvery) McGuire, and Shaun McGuire; great-grandchildren, Jayson and Parker Calvery; brother, Glenn Thomas; niece, Julia (Avik) Sarkar;  great-niece, Stephanie Sarkar and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Burt Thomas, and sister, Grace Russell.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere,IL 61008.
