John "Jack" S. Emery, 80, of Belvidere, Illinois, died peacefully on March 3, 2018 at Alpine Fireside in Rockford, Illinois. He was born, October 26, 1937 to Lawrence W. and Hannah M. (Curtis) Emery in Walker, Minnesota. Jack married his sweetheart, Lorraine on October 12, 1957 at Evangelical Covenant Church in Belvidere.

Jack attended Walker High School. He was a Carpenter for Lamont Emery Construction in Rockford and was a member of Carpenters Local 792 for sixty years. Jack and Lorraine belonged to Evangelical Covenant Church for sixty years! He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, carpentry and making things. He was also a home builder. Jack was a life time member of the NRA.

Jack is loved and missed by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Donald Emery and Daryl (Mary) Emery; daughter, Debra (Jeff) Moorman; grandchildren, Daniel (Allison) Moorman, Matthew (Haylea) Moorman, Sara Moorman and Amy Emery; great grandchildren, Kaiden, Elliette, Teaghan, Eivin and Zella Moorman; brothers, Lamont (Betty) Emery, Warren Emery and James Emery; sisters, Iris Bullion, Coral Burg and Virgina Emery; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Vincent Emery; and sisters, Bernice Skok, Frances Elliott and Marlene Jurcak.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday, March 8, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, Illinois. Services will be at 11 A.M., Friday, March 9, at Evangelical Covenant Church, 220 E Harrison St, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Scott Nellis officiating.
