John L. Burge, 86, of Belvidere, IL, passed away May 15, 2021 at home. He was born December 19, 1934, in Vail, Iowa, son to Frank and Carrie (Read) Burge. He married Doris LaBuy in the Methodist Church in Belvidere on September 18, 1960. He was employed at Eagle Foods for 35 years. He was a member of Open Bible Church and Masonic Lodge in Belvidere. He enjoyed model railroading and was a member of the National Model Railroad Association.

John will be loved and dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Doris; one son, Raymond Burge of LeClaire, Iowa; a sister, Eleanor Gauger of Wauwatosa, WI; and one brother, Frank Burge of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by one son, Dale, in 2016; his parents; brothers, Eldon, Norman; and one sister, Anna Hanson. In keeping with John's wishes, there will be a private military burial service.
