John M. Bednar, of Poplar Grove,
IL., passed away peacefully, Monday, March 16, 2020 in Belvidere IL. John was born October 30, 1926 in Chicago IL,
the son of Anna and John Bednar Sr. John
married the love of his life, Gloria (Charbonneau) on July 29, 1950. She preceded him in death on January 17,
2018.

John graduated from Kelvyn Park
High School 1945 class and then attended Illinois Art Institute of Chicago
IL. John was a former Hillside IL
resident, and was retired from Sears Roebuck and Company, where he was an
employee in the Test Lab both on Homan Avenue, and then at the Sears
Tower.

John was a US Army World War II
veteran, serving from July 1945 until he was discharged January 27, 1946, as a
Corporal. He served in Germany working
under the 4th Armor division, 37th Tank Battalion. He also worked as an interpreter for the
polish guard unit which pulled guard duties for American complexes, under the
1036 "Labor Supervision Company".

John and Gloria enjoyed traveling
in their retirement years together and with their group of friends. John made his spiritual home at Saint James
Catholic Church in Belivdere and was a prior member of Saint Domitilla's in
Hillside.

John will be missed by his loving
family, children Mark (Athlyne) Bednar, Keith (Jill) Bednar, Susan (John)
Anderson, and Troy Bednar; grandchildren Mike Bednar, David Bednar, and
Carolyne (Joe) Crawford; great grandchildren Noah, Silas, Jonathan and Lucy;
sibling Dennis Bednar. He is preceded in
death by his loving wife Gloria, his parents, sisters, Mary and Susan.

The family wishes to extend a
special thank you to John's caregivers Shirley and Dina for all their love and
compassionate care for John.

The memorial service for John and
Gloria Bednar will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements have been made
with Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services.
