Joel L. Moody, II, 93 left his mortal body on Wednesday evening, July 16, 2014, in Maple Crest Care Centre, Belvidere, IL.  He was born at Leachville, Arkansas, on August 15, 1920 the son of Joel L Moody, Sr. and Susan C. (Bailey) Moody.  He moved to northern Illinois in 1942.  Joel married Ruth V. Kennedy in 1944, she preceded him in death on April 7, 1997.  He worked at many jobs in his lifetime retiring in 1993.

He survived by one son Joel L. "Larry" (Carol) Moody III; daughters, Susan P. (James) Taylor, Melissa "Molly" Moody and Merry F. (Joe) Shane; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; also various nieces and nephews and some truly great in-laws.  He is predeceased by his parents, wife; and daughter, Janice R. Church.

He was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church where he served on the church board in one capacity or another since 1968.  He loved everyone and was friends with everyone he met.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 21, 2014 in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, 105 E. Grove Street, Poplar Grove, IL with Pastor Danice Loveridge officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Burial in Poplar Grove Cemetery.  Arrangements by Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W.
