Joe E. Robbins, Jr. of Poplar Grove, Illinois, died suddenly in his home at age 45 on June 23, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on February 5, 1967 to Joe and Carol Robbins, Sr. His longtime loving girlfriend of 17 years, Dawn Sartino, passed away in 2010. Joe was an avid lover of horses and animals in general. He graduated from North Boone High School in Poplar Grove. He proudly served our country in the Marine Corps from 1987 to 1991. Joe worked as a Deputy officer for the Boone County Sheriff's Office for 19 years. During that time, he became a detective. Later in his career, he worked for SLANT and the DEA. Joe touched many lives and was respected by all who knew him. He cherished all his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Joe is survived by his daughters, Caitlin (Matthew) Jochums, Springfield, Illinois; Autumn (Aaron) Stivers and son, Caleb Peak, both of Rockford, Illinois; grandchild, Lillian Jochums; two sisters, Tammy (John) McPhee and Dawn Keating, both of Poplar Grove, and brother, James (Victoria) Robbins; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. In addition to his longtime girlfriend, Dawn, Joe is preceeded in death by his father Joe, Sr. and grandparents.
