Joanne L. Johnson, 80, of Belvidere, passed peacefully Thursday, April 19, 2012 with her family by her side. Born August 14, 1931 in Belvidere, daughter of Howard and Mae Rose (Keefe) McCabe. Joanne attended Belvidere High School, worked at GTE in Genoa and Amerock in Rockford. She enjoyed morel mushroom hunting, playing cards, cooking, canning, Elvis, and roller skating in her younger years. She loved Corgi's, especially her late dog Harry. After retirement her love for casinos and slots grew. She traveled with friends and family to visit casinos all over the U.S. Survivors include her son Michael (Colleen) Hill, daughters Roxanne (Larry) Kiehl, Luanne Tripke, and Carla (Kelly) Sullivan, 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and Kelso the cat. Predeceased by her parents, sister, and special friend Carol Lusz.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Boone County Animal Services and Adoption Center, 1230 S. Appleton Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008.
