Joan Ruth Fidder, 82, of Belvidere, IL, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 1, 1941 in DeKalb, IL. The daughter of Agnes (Schalk) and Ray Mosher.
On February 13, 1960 she married the love of her life, Robert Fidder. Together they had 5 children and 52 years of marriage. She was a deeply devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Joan was dedicated to her family and Grange community. She prioritized community service, love for nature, and creativity. Joan spent a total of 70 years as a member of the Grange. She was a member of the Flora and Pomona Granges and held numerous offices during her Grange tenure.In addition, she managed ticket sales at the Boone County Fair for 15 plus years. For the past 12 years she was employed by Lifescape and served lunch at the Keen Age Center.
Along with being a homemaker, Joan worked for many years in management, spending time as a Regional Manager at the Rockford Register Star and Stop and Go. Due to her artistic ability and love for arts and crafts she decided to start her own business in 1978 called Memory Lane. She was a true artist of all types. Her passions included sewing, painting, quilting, and ceramics to name a few.
She always enjoyed trying her luck at the casino. Throughout the years, Joan tended her gardens and spent time canning. She loved reading, and was always generous to share her knowledge with those around her.
She is survived by her children, Allen Fidder, Sharon Fidder, Susan (Michael) McGill, Aaron (Marie) Fidder; special niece, Janis (James) Bakke; siblings, Marilyn Gliesmann Nelson, Kay (Floyd) Ollmann, and Linda Zak; grandchildren, Kenneth (Amber) Fidder, Rebecca (Devin) Mays, Richard McGill, Tara (Marc) Felix, Jacquelyn (Nate) Frechette, Robert Fidder, Ashley (Andrew) Spezia, Jamie Fidder, Bobby Fidder, and Matthew Fidder; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Loralai, Phoenix, Lizzy, Ella, Connor, Rafe, Stella, Gemma, Cameron, Brayden, Parker, Logan and Chase. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members she loved dearly.
She is welcomed into heaven by her husband, Robert Fidder; son, Andrew Fidder; great-granddaughter, Mackenzie; siblings, Jim Jacobus, Beverly Cliffe, Florence Gardner, Helen Cadie, Louis Mosher, Orville Mosher, Robert Mosher, and Charles Mosher.
Joan's visitation will be Wednesday, August 21, between the hours of 5-8pm with memorial Grange service at 7pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. A second visitation will be Thursday, August 22, at 10am until the time of service. Funeral to follow at 11am. Burial will be at Belvidere Cemetery.
