Joan Marie (Austin) Adams, age 62 of Caledonia, passed away January 25, 2007 in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born December 8, 1944 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Belvidere, the daughter of Gerald and Marie (Mortensen) Austin. Joan graduated from North Boone High School in 1963. She later married the love of her life Don Adams on October 3, 1964 in Poplar Grove. They lived in Caledonia for 42 years, and 32 of those years she worked for Warner-Lambert as a machine operator. In her spare time Joan loved to fish with her family. Her biggest love was that of her 2 granddaughters. She also spent time gardening and reading her romance novels. Joan was renowned for her cooking and was always the first to offer to cook, and the last one to eat. Another passion she shared was bird watching from her windows at home. She always made sure everyone was taken care of before herself. Joan is survived by her loving husband Don Adams, loving children; Daniel (Sandra) Adams and Paulette Adams, adoring grandchildren; Monica and Alexis Mendoza, her cherished mother Marie Austin, and siblings; Richard (Kathy) Austin, Ronald Austin, Jackie Austin, and Larry Austin, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Joan will be truly missed by her loving family. .
