Jo Ann Beard, 58, of Poplar Grove, IL died peacefully, June 14, 2021, in Rockford, IL. She was born May 3, 1963, in Rapid City, South Dakota, daughter to Richard Dean and June (Selken) Smith. She received her associates degree from Rock Valley College and worked for the Secretary of State's Department of Motor Vehicles in Belvidere, IL. She married Douglas Beard, May 2, 1998, at the Presbyterian Church in Belvidere. She was a past member of the Congregational Church in Caledonia and past member of the Moose Club. She enjoyed the outdoors. She loved sports, joining many leagues including bowling, volleyball and softball. She also loved to shop, collect stamps and coins. She was an avid coupon collector, always getting great deals!

She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband, Douglas; parents, Richard and June Smith; sons, Adam Richard Beard and Jeffrey George Beard; granddaughter, Scarlett Rose Beard; stepchildren, Tina Van De Mark, Paul Beard, Pam Henggeler and Douglas Beard, Jr.; brother, Lyle (Loretta) Smith; sister, Imogene (Paul) Taylor; numerous aunts and uncles; niece, Kathy (Matt) Jaklic; nephews, Brad (Ashley) Smith, Ryan Taylor, and Rodney (Emily) Taylor; and special cousin, Matt Smith. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Eveyln Smith and Chas and Fern Selken.

The visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 West Hurlbut, Belvidere, Illinois 61008. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2021at the funeral home. Pastor David Paul Smith will officiate. Burial at Highland Garden of Memories.
