Jerry L. Peters, age 71, of Poplar Grove, Illinois died Monday morning, April 11, 2005 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness. Jerry was born October 20, 1933 in Geneva, Wisconsin, the son of Christian M. and Florence G. (Wright) Peters. He married Maryan Bachmann on February 19, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Jerry formerly owned a J & L service station and worked 38 years for Jack Wolf retiring in July 29, 2002.Jerry served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Jerry is a member of American Legion Capron, IL, and a former member of the Jay Cee's, Boone Co. Sheriff's Radio Patrol, Air National Guard-Strategic Command. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, going to car museums and camping with his family and attending the Oshkosh Air Show and was an avid Greenbay Packer Fan. After his retirement, Jerry became a wood crafter. But most important to him was spending time with his children and grandchildren.Survivors include his wife Maryan of Poplar Grove; children, Larry Peters of Cherry Valley, IL, Teresa (Scott) Higgins of Marengo, IL, Denise Gipe of Rockford, IL, Angela (John) Wanfalt of Marengo, IL, Martin Peters of Belvidere, IL, Lisa (Steve) Mortensen of Marengo , IL; grandchildren, Brittney Peters, Ashley Higgins, Jordyn Gipe, Michael and Nathan Wanfalt, Samuel and Paxton Peters, Tanner, Parker and Mackenna Mortensen; brothers Richard Peters of Colorado, David L. Peters of Clinton, WI; sister, Sandra Casteel of Belvidere, IL. Jerry is predeceased by his parents; sister, LaBonna; brother, Frank and grandchildren, Nicholas Peters and Mackenzie Mortensen.
