Jerrold "Jerry" George Hart, 86, of Belvidere, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on November 25, 1939, in Lime Springs, Iowa, to Arthur Leroy Hart and Ada Laura (Dodd) Hart. He grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and service that remained with him throughout his life.
On July 18, 1970, Jerry married the love of his life, Karen Bucklin, at St. John's United Church of Christ. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and community, sharing 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before beginning his career with Chrysler, where he worked as a loyal assembler for 35 years. He was dedicated to his work and took great pride in providing for his family.
A devoted member of his community, Jerrold was active in the Flora Grange and Guilford Hope Grange, earning the distinction of Seventh Degree Granger. He was also a member of American Legion Post 77, served as a Boy Scout leader, volunteered on the Belvidere High School Chain Gang, and coached youth sports through BYB. His willingness to give his time and talents touched countless lives over the years.
Those who knew Jerry will remember him for his patience, kindness, and unwavering love for his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved. He also enjoyed watching sports and was a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.
Jerry is lovingly survived by his wife, Karen Hart; his son, Jerry (Becky) Hart; his grandson, Clinton (Grace) Hart; his brother, Howard (Reva) Hart; his sister-in-law, Margaret Hart; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ada Hart; his sister, Betty (Robert) Jones; and his brothers, Virgil Hart, Kennard Hart, Wayne (Marlys) Hart, and Gary (Velita) Hart.
A memorial visitation for Jerrold’s will be held at First United Methodist Church, located at 610 Bonus Ave., Belvidere, IL., on Monday, June 8th, 2026, at 10am with a service to follow at 11am, with Pastor Jim Bell officiating.
Jerry’s life was one of service, dedication, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to family that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Sanctuary Hospice Care for their compassionate care, not only to Jerry, but to Karen as well.
