Belvidere, IllinoisJason Randall Smith, 52, of Belvidere died Monday morning, October 10, 2011 in his home after a nine month battle with Esophageal Cancer. Jason was born December 31, 1959 in Rockford the son of Spencer Smith and Betty (Woodard) Klopp; he was a life long resident of Belvidere. Jason graduated from Belvidere High School in 1978 and attended Rock Valley College. He married Judith Ann (Davis) Menge in Heaters, W.V. on August 14, 1994. Jason served our country during peacetime in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 0332, the Legion Riders Illinois chapter and the Patriot Guard Illinois Chapter; and Chrysler Veteran Affairs.Jason is loved and will be missed by his wife, Judy; parents, Vern and Betty Klopp of Belvidere; children Lisa (Randy) Volkman of Rushford, MN, Dusty (Tammy) Menge of Belvidere; Jennifer (Paul) Sanders of Belvidere; grandchildren Destiny Mengedoht, Temprence Volkman, Tyler Menge, Allison Menge, Ryan Menge, Dylan Menge, Valerie Pickert, Freddy Pickert, Ryan Pickert, Katelyn Sanders, Kyle Sanders, Keith Sanders; brother Victor (Jennifer Peters) Smith of Rockford; sister Carla (Carl) Mengedoht of Bicknell, IN; step brother Jody (Joyce) Klopp of Batavia, IL; step sister Wendy Does of Batavia, IL.
