Janice Elaine Smith, 78, of Winter Garden, Fl., died in her home surrounded by her loved ones on November 9, 2025, in Winter Garden.  She was born April 13, 1947, in Rockford, IL, daughter to Eugene and Beverly (Lane) Cowell.  Janice graduated from West High School in Rockford, IL, and received her associates degree at Illinois Central College . She had a career as an addiction counselor in Peoria, IL, at Human Service Center and attended St. James Catholic Church in Rockford, IL.

Interests include her love for Mackinac Island, Michigan, the Chicago Cubs and the Beatles!  She loved her dogs dearly and had many over the years including Mocha and Journey.

Janice is loved and missed by her children, Michelle (Scott) Spring, Kristin Casado, Emilio (Kathy) Casado and Dustin Smith; grandchildren, Jordan Spring, Ahlanna Glasco, Richard Glasco, Kahtrell Treadwell, DeAngelo Treadwell, Liliana Casado, Kristian Casado, Paisley Somerset, Benjamin Somerset and Alexander Somerset; 8 great-grandchildren; and one on the way!

She is preceded in death by her mother, Beverly Noth and father, Eugene Cowell; and sister, Judith Cowell.

A visitation will be from 10 AM to noon, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services with a burial at Darien Cemetery in Darien, Wisconsin.
