James Rennie, 81, of Belvidere, passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Jim was born October 13, 1932 in Belvidere; the son of John and Florence (LaHeneff) Rennie. He graduated from Belvidere High School. Jim married Patricia A. Fagan in Rockford on July 7, 1956. He was an over the road professional driver. Jim owned and operated P & J Trucking Company while working for the Belvedere Company, until retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Marine Corp. Jim was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, the V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 and the American Legion, Boone Post 77 and former member of Bel-Mar Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, traveling to the Caribbean, walking with the neighborhood girls and gardening. Jim was a "traditionalist" when it came to family holidays. He truly loved life and his family. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Belvidere; 3 daughters, Debra (Peter) Crawford, of Belvidere; Christine Rennie, of Oceanside, CA; Mary Ekberg, of Rockford; 4 grandchildren, Jeremiah (Tasha) Crawford; Nicholas and Dustin Ekberg and Shannon (Rennie) Goodsell and husband, Dan; 4 great grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Amaya Crawford; Haven and Arra Goodsell; 3 sisters, Violet Gray, Marion Shores, Agnes White. He is preceded in by his parents, son, Michael in 1980; grandson, Travis Crawford and sister, Florence Blake.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel 218 W. Hurlbut Av. Cremation to take place following the service. Visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a memorial fund to be established at a later date.
