James Leroy Pierce, 67, passed away on July 25, 2015 in his own home in Belvidere, IL. He was born on December 20, 1947 in Belvidere, IL, son of Lavern and Dorothy Pierce. Jim grew up in Belvidere, IL. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1965. He worked for Liebovich Bros., Inc. as a semi-truck driver where he worked for many, many years. Jim was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Jim loved woodworking, drawing and watching John Wayne movies. He enjoyed going to the Boone County Fair for tractor pulls. Jim enjoyed playing pool, visiting with family and friends, and fishing. He enjoyed country music, especially Reba McIntyre, Billy Joe Royal, and Shenandoah. Jim was a huge John Force fan and made many trips to different NHRA events thoughout the U.S. He enjoyed spending time with son-in-law, Jeff Fortson's side of the family. He also received several Liebovich Brothers Trucking Safety Awards for years of safe driving.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Allena (Jeff) Fortson of Belvidere, IL and Laurie (JR) Lentz of Belvidere, IL; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Colin) Dornick, Jessica Fortson, Austin McClenthen, and Trevor Snodgrass; his great-grandchildren, Timothy, Eleanor, and Cordelia Dornink; his cousin, Frank (Fran) Maxwell, nieces and nephews and other relatives. He leaves behind many friends and family friends: Mel Morey, Ernie Thornton, Marilyn Graves, Tim Karr, Carol Thornton and Bert Thornton. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Dorothy Pierce and his brother, Vern (Tiny) Pierce.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Eugene Wille officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Highland Garden of Memories.
