James D. "Jim" Marks, Sr., 72, of Belvidere, Passed away the morning of September 8, 2015 at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere. He was born November 29, 1942 the son of Louis "Bob" and Mabel Marks in Elgin, IL. After graduation from Marengo Community High School, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Jim enjoyed working on his Camaro for the Byron Dragway with his neighbor Clay Butt, collecting coins, hunting, fishing, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He is the past 3rd Ward Alderman in Belvidere and a current member of the Big Thunder and Pomona Grange's.

Jim is loved and missed by his son, James D. Marks, Jr. (Gina); daughter, Wendy S. (Shane) Munro; brother, Robert "Buzz" (Jeanette) Marks; sister, Marcia (Ronald) Jetton; grandchildren, Jessica Boeldt, James D. Marks III, Dylan Marks, and Stephanie Munro; his best friend, Pat Wilkinson; and his faithful sidekick, Nippers. Jim is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial visitation will be from 1:00-3:30 pm Sunday September 13, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008, with a Presentation of Military Honors at 3:45pm. Memorials may be made to the Family of James D. Marks, Sr. for a memorial to be designated at a later date.
