James L. Margis, 95, of Belvidere, IL died January 6, 2021 in Belvidere. He was born March 23, 1925, in Rockford, IL, son to Andrew and Selma (Kelly) Margis. James married his sweetheart, Mary Jane Nowak April 14, 1956 in Castle Rock Township, WI. He worked 30 plus years as a machinist for Sunstrand in Rockford/Belvidere. James served in The United States Navy during WWII. He enjoyed golf and the Cubs, the outdoors and traveling. James was an avid reader. You could always find him reading the newspaper.

James is loved and will be missed by his son, David (Diana) Margis; daughters, Cindy (Brian) Hodges and Sandy (Todd) Fleming; grandchildren, Angie and Melany Margis, Ashely and Annette Hodges, and Bailey and Allison Fleming; sister-in-law, Evelyn Nowak; and brother-in-law, Joe ( JoAnn) Nowak.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents; and sister, Bernice Power.
