James R. Schneider, 72, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015 in Northwoods Care Centre after a lingering illness.  Jim was born April 16, 1942 in Belvidere, IL the son of Francis and Frances (Reney) Schneider.  He graduated from Marengo High School in 1960.  Jim and Martha "Janie" Simpson were married on August 4, 1962 in Marengo.  Jim was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the United States  of America on July 12, 1966 (James Ralph Schneider, NG26416498, SP4 E4, HHC, 1st bn, 129th Infantry). He loved fishing and playing games on his computer.

Jim is loved and will be missed by his wife of 52 years Janie; children, Annette Lynn (Dale) Bounds, James Robert (Andrea) Schneider, Randall Keith Schneider, Francis William (Ida) Schneider; ten grandchildren; two great-granddaughters, Nadya Lynn Gilmore and Evelyn Maxine Gilmore; sisters, Barbara (Bill) Brandt and Rita (Barry) Valentine; several nieces and nephews; special pal "Max".

The family acknowledges the staff of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Dr. Kouimelis and Dr. Michelsen as well as the staff of Northwoods Care Centre on the second floor for the tender loving care given to Jim.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL.  Visitation will be from 11:00 to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
