James W. Nelson, 84, of Belvidere, IL, passed away suddenly, Friday, March 24, 2017 at Swedish American Medical Center, Belvidere. He was born October 4, 1932 in Rockford, IL, son of Nels E. and Myrtle L. (Draper) Nelson. Jim married the love of his life, Jane B. Chambers on October 23, 1952. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1952-1954. Jim was a farmer and truck driver for many years. He was a member of the grange, and the Boone County Conservation Board. Jim was a 4-H Leader and on the 4-H auction committee. He loved horses, and Farmall tractors. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.

Jim is loved and missed by his children, Wayne (Mary) Nelson of Rockton, Debbie Peaslee of Belvidere, Denise (Bob) Mohar of Stillman Valley, Dennis Nelson of Poplar Grove, Kimberly Nelson of Belvidere, and Dana Nelson of Belvidere; grandchildren, Jaymie and Jim (Lauren) Nelson, Clayton (Rachel) and Leslie Peaslee, Jeffrey and Joshua (Debbie) Nelson, Polly Taylor, Jessey (Nate) Bozovsky, and Nelson Taylor; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jane, grandson, Nate Mohar, brother, Don and sister, Evelyn.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL with Rev. John Brennan officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the funeral home and from 10:00-10:45 a.m., prior to the service. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories.
