James T. Barr, 87, of Belvidere died peacefully, September 21, 2015. He was born July 21, 1928 in Gibson City, IL, son of Dwight L. Francis Barr. Jim graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1946 and Northern Illinois University in 1951. He is a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Army Air Core from 1951 to 1953. He married Janet Larson, April 7th 1956. He taught and coached at Belvidere High School from 1961 to 1991. Jim was a caring and solid community member and will be greatly missed by his friends, neighbors, students, players, and family.

He is survived by his children, Victor (Elizabeth) Barr of Rockford, IL, Greg (Laurie) Barr of Lachute, Canada, Mark Barr of Rockford, IL; sister Mary Babel of Grand Island, NE; brothers, Bill (Edna) DeVore of West Chicago, IL, David (Mary) Barr of Carrollton, GA; 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother, Dwight Barr, Jr.
