James M. Arand, 81, of Belvidere, Illinois, went to be with the lord on January 13, 2019. Born May 2, 1937 to Ernest and Ethel (Bartell) Arand. On November 10, 1962, he married his loving wife, LaVonne, and they worked side by side together. He attended Belvidere High School and graduated with the class of 1957. After high school, from 1957 to 1963, James proudly served his country in the Marine Corps in Okinawa, the Philippines, and in Korea for cold weather training. After his time in the Marine Corps, James worked as a journeyman plumber with Pearsons for 38 years.

James was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, head usher, and Sunday school teacher for many years. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was a CERTs Volunteer in Police Service for about 17 years. James enjoyed working around the yard, planting flowers, and took pride in keeping a nice yard. He truly had a tender heart and loved his family very much.

James is loved and will be missed by his wife, LaVonne; children, Brenda (David) Hawkins, Joan M. (Gary) Crowe, and James E. Arand; sisters, Donna Luckow and Nancy (Daryl) Moss; sister-in-law, Shirly Arand; grandchildren, Gary Crowe Jr, Beaux Fowler, Rusty Fowler, Joshua Arand, Autumn Crowe, Rebecca Hawkins, Luke Crowe, and Andrea Hawkins; great-grandson, Eli Arand; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Jerry, and Harold Arand; and brother-in-law, Kenny Luckow.

A Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church, 1637 7th Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Another short visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. prior to service at Faith Baptist Church on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Faith Baptist Church. Burial will be at Highland Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be established in James's name for an organization to be determined at a later date.
