Ivan L. "Shorty" Gulling, 81, of Belvidere, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 in his home following a long illness. Born May 7, 1925 in Hartford, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Eva (Blood) Gulling. "Shorty" has resided in Belvidere since 1957, coming here from Iowa. He married Shirley Southern in Dixon, Illinois on May 3, 1947. He was the Owner of Johnson Service Co. for many years retiring in 1987. He was a veteran of WWII serving the Navy. "Shorty" was a 52 year member of the American Legion Boone Post #77. He also loved animals. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Belvidere; 4 children, David Gulling, of Milwauke, Wis. Sharon (Marc) Anderson, Belvidere; Dennis (Anna) Gulling, Rockford, Ill. and Sheila (Rory) Bodey, Clinton, Wis. 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; a sister, Irene McFaul, Des Moines, Iowa; Brother, Donnie (Daisy) Gulling, Kansas City, Mo.; Mother-in-law, Lucille Gulling, Belvidere and his loving dog, "Abby". "Shorty was predeceased by his parents and 3 brothers, Lloyd, Norman and Pete Gulling.
