Poplar Grove, ILIva Marie Maitland, life long and oldest living member of Capron Lutheran Church, passed from this earthly life Thursday morning November 3, 2011, at the age of 98, to be with her Lord. Iva was born Iva Marie Georgeson on September 15, 1913 to Gulick and Mabel (Anderson) Georgeson in Capron, IL. She graduated from Belvidere High School, attended Northern Illinois University, the University of Illinois and was a graduate of the Pestalozzi Traeble Teachers College in Chicago, IL. She taught school in the Harlem District for twenty three years.Iva married Elmer Conley in 1935 and was a lifetime member of the Capron Lutheran Church, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, past member of the Harvard Moose Auxiliary, past president of the Capron Lutheran Church's W.E.L.C.A., and a volunteer quilter at Capron Lutheran Church for many years. Iva and Elmer Conley raised a son, Gerald (Jerry) and daughter Sharyn, and lost a son Howard in infancy. Elmer and Iva were busy on their dairy farm raising their Holstein herd and raising Shetland ponies, providing pony rides at festivals and fairs. Following Elmer's death, Iva married Milton Maitland in 1972.Iva was preceded in death by both husbands, an infant son, grandson Jed Robbins and sisters Iolene (Clarence) Gilbertson, Neva (George) Holtfreter, Helen (George) Juris, Anna (Arthur) Loft, Marian Georgeson.Iva is survived by her daughter Sharyn Aeh; son Gerald (Jeanette) Conley; grandchildren Robyn (Dan Webb) Robbins and Jon Robbins, Jennifer (Frankie) Martinez, Mary Ann Shahade; great-grandchildren Sarah Lytle, Airman Caleb Vrancken, Jacob Vrancken, Audrey Vrancken, Alexandria Shahade, Nicholas Robbins and Emily Legrand, sister Ruth Burnett.During recent months, Iva was cared for in her own home by her daughter, Sharyn; granddaughter, Robyn and daughter in-law Jeanette. This loving mother, grandmother, church worker and community member, will be missed by all who knew her. Family members extend sincere thanks to Capron Lutheran Church Community of loving, giving members for their continued visits and acts of love; as well as Hospice Care of America.
